A city of high altitude and little attitude
4 million at a height of 4300 metres
El Alto, even more frames the upper side
Cities on Mountains elsewhere too,
But none to compare in gigantic size
And still expanding

The capital of a country
With cable cars in place of Metro
The mini Metro of Perugia dwindles
The cable cars of tourist attraction
Overridden as a viable option
For the daily commuters in the city,
oAt an affordable price is something
That attracts more to the city.

Yet as elsewhere, much more
Could be done for a welfare state
To take shape and raise the happiness level
Not of gigantic proportions, a population
With a mere twenty-six million mostly
In comparison to India or China

In cities and with vast hinterlands
in the plains and the mountains
With arid and green untapped resources
Needing the conversion of Ideas
Into progress that combines the genius
Of a people and heritage of a time and clime

An adventure that brought the Spanish
Into these lands had ambitions on either side
Both for the Missionary with pure motives
As well as the Horseman Trader needed to gain
Did they conquer and subdue to make ways new
Through an invited surrender of ancient ways
On mountainous coarse living, with a past
For its own shortcomings and for good or bad?

Being overtaken by the powerful, even by coercion
With outright threats of arms, capable of looting
Or the path chosen was the Intermarriage
Of the Local and of the European, to win over
Even the hardest defensiveness turned mild
The pathway for control that has lasted to date

How do you retaliate, revoke, or return to something
Transformed into New with logic and rationale
The language did the most to make thinking different
An appropriation of a way conceived in a modern pattern
Religion overrides and sublimates the power plays and creates
A new order that benefits a far-off royalty in Spain initially
Later, the Local variant continued the collaboration
In a revised format, for sustenance and survival

The notion of people redesigned, the notion of equality made
Mere semblance and a variant of how come this ideal of a one world
When worked for and kept alive always turns itself on its head
Creates new versions of inequality with the promoters of these ideals
They themselves are perceived as privileged and special.
Never-ending flow of attempts to equalise being overridden
With aspirations for Superiority ever surfacing in unimagined ways
