A phrase to express ‘being between factions’
Between contests, between positions
A place where one can only precariously be
One and the other lay claim
You could be drawn hither and thither
It is also ‘not to take a stand’
Be, instead, a go-between
Be in the midst and yet free
A choice to be free from what, for what
A choice for one’s freedom to choose
One’s right to express and be heard
It is also a place of transition:
Not wanting to be where one was
And yet, not sure where one ought to be
Is it because of too many or two-a-many
Options, or because the options lack
An attraction, convincing enough, or is it
A search for the ideal one wants
to create, to hold and express?
That phase in one’s life where one feels
A new path, a new mode of deriving
A new letting go
In preparation for the final,
Which could be anytime
To be faced, lived with its anxieties
Moments of clarity
Both in its agony and ecstasy
Making it worth.
